Morten brings extensive experience in innovation, product development and change management, built through a long career in the chemical industry. Before joining LayerOne, Morten was CEO at Bioenvision, where he led the commercialization of advanced POSS solutions for flame retardancy and hydrophobation. He has held key positions at Jotun, driving the technical development of Hull Performance Solutions (HPS) and leading global profitability and product innovations.

Morten holds a doctor’s degree in Science and has studied business administration. His career is marked by a pursuit for innovation, and a belief in the transformative power of science and technology in creating sustainable industry solutions.

Bjørn Gading Solemsli

Head of Technology and R&D

Bjørn leads Technology and R&D activities at LayerOne, shaping the company’s technical direction and translating advanced materials research into practical products and industrial applications. Building on his previous role as Application Specialist, he brings direct experience from industrial application development, customer needs, product performance, and the connection between R&D and commercial priorities.

Bjørn holds a PhD in chemistry and materials science, with a background in advanced materials research. At LayerOne, he applies this scientific foundation to graphene-based technologies and material development for customer applications. His work connects R&D, operations, sales, and external partners, with a focus on developing solutions that are technically sound, scalable, and relevant for industrial use.

Steinar Fredriksen

SHEQ & Plant Manager

Steinar has extensive experience in the sustainable production of advanced materials, including graphite and silicon manufacturing from his time at REC Solar and Vianode.

With Higher Vocational Certificates in Process Technology, Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement Management, he combines deep technical expertise with hands-on industrial and leadership experience.

Annette Frotjold

Chief Marketing Officer

Annette brings a wealth of experience in marketing, branding, communications, and design, honed through years of dedicated work within industrial sectors. She has a bachelor’s in communication sciences from Italy, where she also managed marketing and communications for an EPC company operating within energy, oil & gas and shipping. She has also worked ten years with marketing and communications for a major engine manufacturer.

She combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, leveraging her expertise in financial management, ERP implementation, and process optimization. Her background spans multiple industries, including oil services, shipping, hospitality, construction, and consulting. Passionate about developing people and fostering engagement, Kristina is dedicated to driving growth through smart, technology-driven solutions.
