Morten Eikenes leads management buyout of LayerOne to commercialize PFAS removal
Porsgrunn, Norway – 3 July – LayerOne Materials has appointed Morten Eikenes as Chief Executive Officer following the recent management buyout of the company. The appointment comes as LayerOne enters a new phase, with a clear focus on commercial growth and delivering advanced material technologies to industrial applications.
LayerOne has built its business on expertise in graphene oxide (GO), reduced graphene oxide (rGO), and polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS). That expertise remains the foundation of the company.
Going forward, LayerOne will place greater emphasis on developing practical solutions for environmental and industrial challenges where its technologies can make a real difference.
A key priority is the development of graphene-based solutions for PFAS removal and replacement. Through the European GENESIS project, LayerOne has achieved promising results, with its technology showing higher PFAS uptake rates than conventional activated carbon while also capturing short-chain PFAS more effectively.
LayerOne has a strong technology platform and a highly skilled team. We have exciting opportunities ahead, particularly within PFAS abatement and other water-treatment applications. My focus will be on working closely with our customers and partners to bring these technologies into practical use and continue building the company.
